AbsInt provides advanced development tools for embedded systems, and tools for analysis, optimization and verification of safety-critical software.
The company was founded in February 1998 by Prof. Dr. Reinhard Wilhelm and members of his Chair of Programming Languages and Compiler Construction at the Saarland University: Christian Ferdinand, Florian Martin, Stephan Thesing, Marc Langenbach and Daniel Kästner.
The name AbsInt is an acronym for “Abstract Interpretation” — an approach to static program analysis formalized by Patrick Cousot and Radhia Cousot at the Laboratoire d’Informatique, Grenoble, France, in 1977. By implementing the said approach, we developed a number of highly successful cutting-edge products.
Our aiT WCET Analyzer is the first software tool worldwide that is capable of verifying whether safety-critical embedded applications always react fast enough. Since 2002, aiT is used by Airbus France for validating the timing behavior of critical avionics software.
Our state-of-the-art aiPop Code Compaction Suite automatically reduces the code size of embedded applications — without changing their functionality. Since 2000, aiPop-compacted software runs in millions of cellular phones and automobiles worldwide.
Our StackAnalyzer has become the industry standard for automatically computing the worst-case stack usage of the tasks in embedded applications, thus helping to prevent serious — and in some cases, potentially lethal — software crashes.
Lastly, our award-winning graph layout software aiSee helps thousands of users worldwide to quickly visualize, easily explore and better understand all kinds of complex relational data — from family trees to P2P networks to organization charts to entity relationship diagrams.
In 2003, only half a year after the launch of aiT, AbsInt was awarded a European Information Society Technology Prize, the most distinguished award for “groundbreaking products that represent the best of European innovation in information society technologies”.
Our customers are located in more than 40 countries all over the world, including the United States, Canada, Japan, Russia, Australia and almost all member states of the EU. We have distribution agreements with major software distributors in Asia, North America, Middle East, and throughout Europe.
As of March 1, 2009, we had 36 employees from six nations, all located at our headquarters in Saarbruecken, Germany.
100% of the company are held by the founders and their families.
