Data collection and storage

AbsInt collects and stores personal data about you that is provided either by yourself or your company or organization. This includes details that you put in the footer of your emails, any phone numbers you call us from, or the information on your business card that you or your colleagues give to us in person.

This data is stored in our internal customer-relationship-management database alongside a history of interactions that includes a copy of past email exchanges, summaries of past phone calls, transcripts of conversations at trade shows, and the like. We also keep track of what products of ours you have used, any license files you have received, and any issues you have reported. This information is directly connected to your name and contact details.

We do not sell or buy customer data of any kind.

Website logs

As part of the Internet Protocol, your browser leaves behind technical data in our server logs, including your IP address, which for the purposes of the law also counts as your personal data. None of that data is linked to or matched against your aforementioned personal data in our customer database. The server logs are not stored at AbsInt, but are kept by the server’s host one4vision GmbH (Talstrasse 34–42, 66119 Saarbruecken, Germany).

No portion of this website requires you to identify yourself by other means in order to use it. You don’t need to create an account or log in; we do not ask that you like, subscribe, follow, comment, tweet and share; and we do not embed third-party buttons that might track you across the Internet without you or us even realizing. We don’t use any cookies except for the one required by Google Analytics to compile aggregate anonymized statistics that help us improve this website as a whole for all visitors as a group (more on that below).

We don’t know who’s reading this sentence right now, and we don’t care.

Right of access and right to erasure

In accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679, Article 15, any individual within the European Union may at any time request to know the full extent of the data we store about them, what we are doing with it, and where we got it from. They can also demand it be deleted in accordance with Article 17.

Email newsletters

You can request to receive newsletters to your email address that you provide, and unsubscribe again anytime.

If you have bought or actively used our products in the past, you may be automatically notified of major releases and failure notices as part of your paid-for or free support-and-maintenance package. You should not be receiving any automatic email dispatches on top of that unless you so desire. We try to keep all mass-email communication to a bare minimum and strictly opt-in.

Any newsletter that you do receive should include an easy-to-find unsubscribe link. Alternatively you can contact info@absint.com and request to be expressly excluded from receiving any automatic email in the future.

We do not buy or sell email addresses. We have no use for your private address, and if we have your work address, we got it either directly from you or from your company/organization.

Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a service provided by Google that compiles aggregate reports about how people use this website, so we can improve it for future visitors by simplifying navigation, fixing broken links, altering the wording to make it easier for people to find what they are looking for, or translating popular pages into additional languages.

In order to compile the aggregate data about our visitors, Google Analytics relies on so-called “cookies”. A cookie is a small text file placed on your computer by your browser. You can at any time examine the contents of that file in a text editor, or delete it outright. You can also completely disable the use of cookies in your browser’s settings. If you do not wish to do that, you can still prohibit Google Analytics from collecting data by installing a special browser add-on.

If you do have cookies enabled, the information generated by the cookie about your use of our website, including your IP address, is transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Our website has IP anonymization activated, which means that within EU Member States, and in other member states of the European Economic Area, Google will shorten your IP address before transmitting it. In exceptional cases your full IP address might first be transmitted to a Google server in the US and only then shortened there. Google may transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google’s behalf.

Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google.

By using this website with cookies enabled, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes set out above. For further details, see the general information on Google Analytics and data privacy.
